About

jillofalltrades

Bio: I am a registered nurse, with an MBA and a director of outpatient quality within our local healthcare system. I am a mother of two wonderful children, and a wife to a man I've been with since I was 18 years old. I have trained in and competed in martial arts since the age of 8 years old. I have won the Chicago Golden Gloves and competed successfully in many boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and mma events. I am also from a rural family and have a small hobby farm with dairy goats, chickens, honey bees, and a garden. I pressure can and preserve as much food as we can produce. I hunt, fish, shoot, and generally spend every chance I can outside. Although I have done well for myself in my career, nothing means more to me than my children and the rural style of self sufficient living. It's a legacy that was left to me and one that I feel obligated to pass on to my children. I hope you enjoy reading about my family and our journey as we move through life and try to soak up every moment we can.

  1. Loved your article on your first year with goats. Then I saw your ju jitsu history and found it interesting. I have goats and horses and also did Ju Jitsu. I started it kinda late in life so only competed one tournament and took gold, but ended up doing a little cornering for MMA. Loved it but I’m late 40’s now and my neck can’t take what it used to. Still found it fascinating the similar interests.
